An Easy Read is a Super Read
Picture this: A 30-line block paragraph.
Then … picture reading that paragraph.
What happens?
You don’t read the paragraph.
A lost message. Vanished.
Sand in the wind.
As a marketer or content director that can’t happen.
Messages must be read. Period.
So, there’s a way to avoid that—a guaranteed way.
I can remember driving from Paris, France to Heidelberg, Germany.
Left early in the morning.
Even before the cafes were open.
My girlfriend showed up at the last minute.
“I’m ready to tag along. I managed to snag five vacation days.”
“Let’s go, Marie. Get in.” I pointed at the door.
As I drove through the streets of Paris and onto a narrow highway. I felt a bit uneasy. I kept asking Marie, “Is this the right way?”.
“So far. So good,” she muttered, staring at the map’s web of lines and squiggles.
As time passed, I was also looking for Petrol Stations.
Most were closed.
But I stayed focused. At least I thought I did.
As forks in the road began to appear and disappear, I kept asking, “Right Road?
“No problem. No problem,” she said.
“Great job of navigating, Marie.” I leaned over and kissed her on the cheek.
Now on a wide-open road, I breathed easy.
But Petrol Stations and stores were still closed.
And I was now far from Paris.
We both kept looking at the map. Twisting it. Realigning it.
“Are we on the right road” I asked Marie?
I stopped the car.
“No, Marie! This is the wrong road,” I whispered in my patient boyfriend voice.
I continued, “The map was misleading. It wasn’t clear. We both misread it.
We’re lost.”
Marie spoke quickly. “I should have listened to you. You had your doubts about that last fork in the road.”
“I need to turn around. I also need gas.”
Undaunted, Marie replied, “Let’s do it, Hugh. No problem.”
She kept looking at the map. Looking for the right road to Germany.
“I’ll never complain about the Los Angeles Freeway again,” I said to her out loud.”
“I’m not familiar with that freeway. Only know French roads.”
She rubbed my shoulder.
Eventually, I followed the easy-to-read road signs to find my way to Heidelberg.
Marie napped for the last part of the trip.
The map was now on the floor—passenger side. Out of sight.
My destination was in sight.
I Relaxed. An easy and fast ride, finally.
Marie is a great co-pilot.
And we have 4 days to relax. Life is good.
Why did this happen? Simple. The small print in French map was hard to read.
This happens to anyone who reads articles with poor F-K readability scores.
In today’s fast-paced world of quick-scan copy slow reading won’t cut it.
Messages go invisible. And drop into black holes.
This is why a Smart Copywriter trained to achieve F-K scores that accelerate readability is a must. Meaning what?
Meaning your message and your call to action will be read.
This is what I do. This’s my focus.
Years of writing experience and training give me an edge.
A way to deliver targeted, clear, quick-scan messages.
No wrong turns.
A North Star for all customers and clients.
My skills also include:
· On-time communication
· Collaboration and active listening
· Planning & execution
So, if you need help, cut no corners. Use a Smart Copywriter.
Know this—
· A writer is not a copywriter.
· An English Major isn’t a copywriter—without training.
· And an English teacher isn’t a copywriter—without training.
There are exceptions, of course. But few.
