Fall semester Blasts Off—are you ready?
Every class is a challenge. First Day means learn the ground rules, AND if you don’t know them, ask your instructor or your fellow students or both. Read your Syllabus a couple of times. Be clear about dates and assignments.
- Some things to know:
- What’s the class attendance policy?
- How many tests? What type of tests?
- Will class lecture information be on the tests?
- Does your instructor accept late assignments?
College Success depends on:
Preparing for each class & Attending Class
Let’s look at a key strategy for success:
Pre Reading any textbook:
- Your mind will not absorb information effectively unless you prepare it. Period. End of story. Think of it this way. 0-60 in 12.0 seconds is a mind unfamiliar with the information. 0-60 in 2.0 seconds is a mind familiar with the information.
- Pre Reading lets the mind operate at 2.0 seconds.
Therefore:

—Organization is maximized
